Epic Winter Adventure in the Canadian Rockies
Program Overview
This three-day guided program is designed for intermediate to advanced backcountry skiers and snowboarders seeking to experience world-class alpine terrain in Rogers Pass. With flexible touring objectives tailored to conditions and ability levels, participants will refine their backcountry skills while enjoying some of Canada’s deepest and most consistent powder.
Program Itinerary
Day 1: Golden & Rogers Pass
Meet your guides and fellow participants for introductions and a companion rescue refresher. Choose a touring location suited to the group and conditions, focusing on moderate terrain with good access. Practice skinning techniques and receive coaching on riding deep powder. Possible objectives include NRC Gully, Ventshaft Ridge, Glacier Crest, or Bruins Ridge. Return to Golden in the evening for debrief and next-day planning.
Day 2: Asulkan or Illecillewaet Drainages
Full-day ski tour in one of several world-class areas, chosen based on conditions and group objectives. Terrain selection ranges from mellow tree runs to larger alpine bowls. Evening meeting in Golden to discuss Day 3 objectives.
Day 3: Higher Alpine Zone (weather permitting)
Explore a new zone with the goal of reaching higher alpine terrain. Potential for a glacier tour depending on conditions. Wrap-up discussions and review of skills progression from the program.
Note: If Rogers Pass closes due to avalanche control work, the group will plan to ski either in the Kicking Horse backcountry or in the Rockies to the east.
