DESCRIPTION:

Discover outdoor rock climbing in the heart of the Canadian Rockies with this hands-on introductory course. Designed for climbers of all levels, this program is perfect whether you’re new to climbing, transitioning from the gym to real rock, or looking to refine your skills. Led by ACMG-certified guides, you’ll gain confidence and competence on real rock while learning in a supportive environment.

The Course

This immersive, one-day program introduces you to the fundamentals of outdoor climbing. Your guide will tailor the day to your skill level, covering movement techniques, belaying, tying in, route reading, terrain assessment, and risk management. The focus is on building a solid foundation while having fun and staying safe in a beautiful alpine setting.

Itinerary

  • 7:45 AM – Meet your guide at the AAA office in Banff
  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Climb and learn at a local crag in Banff, Canmore, or Kananaskis

Course Package

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

Tipping Your Guide

If you have an exceptional experience, tips for guides are always appreciated. A 10–15% gratuity is customary and can be given in cash or arranged through the AAA office.
