This is a 1/2 day rock climbing experience — great for families with young kids or anyone looking for a fun outdoor adventure without committing to a full day.

Half Day Rock Climbing Experience

Enjoy a private and family-friendly introduction to outdoor rock climbing in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. This half-day adventure is perfect for families with children aged 6 and up or groups of friends looking to try something new. Learn the fundamentals of climbing in a supportive and fun environment under the guidance of ACMG-certified guides.

The Course

This private program offers an approachable and exciting way to experience real rock climbing. Choose between a morning (8:00 AM–12:00 PM) or afternoon (12:30 PM–4:30 PM) session to fit your schedule. Your guide will introduce you to the essentials of outdoor climbing, including belaying, rope systems, hazard awareness, and movement techniques. The program is fully tailored to your group’s needs and abilities, ensuring a safe, supportive, and memorable day on the rock.

Itinerary (Morning or Afternoon Program)

  • 7:45 AM – Meet your guide at our office in Banff (Morning Program)
  • 12:15 PM – Meet your guide at our office in Banff (Afternoon Program)
  • 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM– Climb & Learn at a crag in Banff, Canmore, or Kananaskis (Morning Program)
  • 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM – Climb & Learn at a crag in Banff, Canmore, or Kananaskis (Afternoon Program)

Course Package

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

Tipping Your Guide

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10–15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.
