The Course

Day one focuses on roped glacier travel, self-arrest technique, crevasse rescue, and movement with crampons and ice axe. Day two applies these skills on a guided ascent of Mt. Athabasca, with route selection determined by the guide based on current mountain and weather conditions. Minimum experience is strong hiking or scrambling experience; this course is suitable for beginner to advanced climbers looking to further their alpine skills.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 – Meet at Columbia Icefields Campground; group meeting & skills training; evening camp at the campground (or hotel accommodation if preferred). Note: plan to arrive in the area the evening before Day 1.
  • Day 2 – Mt. Athabasca summit attempt with your ACMG guide.

Optional Add-On

Mt. Andromeda add-on available for $699 pp + tax (2:1 guest-to-guide ratio). For custom dates, contact the AAA office at info@alpineairadventures.com.

Course Package
