What a beautiful way to spend summer day, up high above the valley floor with nothing but you and the birds. As a beginner or experienced climber, learning the safety skills around rock climbing is an essential step to becoming a competent mountaineer. By learning all of the safety protocol which is universal to all disciplines of climbing you will become a more confidant and experienced climber.

If you are looking for a day out cragging for yourself or a group the AAA guides are available for first time climbers as well as intermediate and advanced climbers to help create a safe and enjoyable guided experience.

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

 

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.

  • Cancellation Insurance is available through the Simpson Group
  • All of our guides have undergone training and evaluation by the ACMG, meeting the established criteria of a globally acknowledged professional organization.

GEAR LIST

  • LONG PANTS to climb in. These should be wool / nylon blend or Scheoller material
  • Light SHIRT or T-SHIRT.
  • Wool or fleece LONG SLEEVE SHIRT.
  • Heavyweight fleece or insulated / down JACKET.
  • Water proof OUTER JACKET with hood (Gore-Tex).
  • Waterproof OUTER PANTS, preferably with side zips on legs.
  • Light weight GLOVES.
  • WARM HAT / TOUQUE
  • NECK TUBE / BALACLAVA
EQUIPMENT LIST You will need to bring:
  • APPROACH SHOES OR LIGHT WEIGHT BOOTS
  • BACKPACK: Large enough to carry spare clothing, lunch, water and climbing gear. Approx. 40 L
  • CLIMBING HARNESS
  • ROCK CLIMBING SHOES, comfy shoes for all day use
  • CLIMBING HELMET
  • CHALK BAG
  • BELAY DEVICE WITH LOCKING CARABINER
  • SUNGLASSES with good UV protection
  • SUN CREAM.
  • Lip Sun Cream.
  • HEADLAMP with fresh batteries.
  • WATERBOTTLE (1L minimum).
  • LUNCH for long day out in the mountains
  • POCKET KNIFE.
  • BLISTER KIT ('moleskin', 'Second Skin')
  • CAMERA
  • TREKKING POLE or old SKI POLE, optional
