Join our Ice Climbing Progression Program, a focused 2-day weekend training experience designed for climbers who have completed our Beginner Ice Adventure or have some ice climbing experience. Led by certified ACMG guides, this program builds on your existing skills, helping you refine climbing technique, improve efficiency, and master technical systems on steeper terrain or multi-pitch routes in a safe, supportive environment.

Two-Day Ice Climbing Skills Advancement

Program Overview

This immersive, hands-on program is designed to take your ice climbing skills to the next level. Participants will work on efficient climbing movement, technique refinement, ice tool placements, and technical systems including anchors and rappel methods. The program provides structured progression with expert instruction in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Program Itinerary

Day 1: Movement Technique

  • 7:45 AM – Meet your guide at our office in Banff
  • Skills taught: Efficient climbing movement, strategies for tackling steep, featured, and sustained pitches

Day 2: Anchors & Mock Leading

  • Skills taught: Ice screw placement, anchors (ice screw anchors, V-threads, no-threads), rappel systems, placing screws while mock leading

After the program, if you’re looking for an additional day of climbing, we suggest booking a one-day Multi-Pitch program.

Course Package

A detailed program package will be emailed 3 days prior to the activity.

Tipping Your Guide

If you had an exceptional experience, tips for guides are always appreciated. A 10–15% gratuity is customary and can be given in cash or arranged through the AAA office.
