The Details:

Rogers Pass is renowned for its huge snowfall and cold deep powder skiing and in late December it can be waist deep! Based out of Golden B.C. This is an ideal trip for intermediate to strong skiers who like to ski a lot!

Rogers Pass is located just east of Revelstoke and is a truly epic location for ski & snowboard touring. In fact, it has quick access to a variety of terrain which works for all abilities and weather conditions. The amazing powder and snowfalls in this area have made Rogers Pass famous among winter sports enthusiasts looking for long runs and amazing descents.

Plan to meet the group in Golden on the morning of day one, the group will sign waivers then head out to the pass. Location will be communicated in the final logistics email. The group will stage in Golden in the evenings.

There will be a companion rescue training exercise to review the use and procedures of the avalanche gear then head out for the day to explore Rogers Pass.

We can accommodate first time back-country skiers with strong intermediate ski or snowboard skills on this trip as we don't want them to miss out on the Deep Powder riding!

Day 1: The objective of this day is to pick a location that will be suitable for the group which will have good access to moderate terrain. The guides will give pointers and trick for skinning and riding deeper powder. Some options might be NRC gully, Ventshaft ridge, Glacier crest or Bruins ridge.

Day 2: Explore Either the Asulkan or Illecillewaet drainages, both snow factors with amazing terrain selection.

Day 3: Check out on of the other amazing zones, if the weather cooperates the goal will be to get up high into the alpine. If Rogers pass closes due to avalanche control work the group will plan to ski either in the Kicking Horse backcountry or in the Rockies to the east.

If you have any questions about this program contact the AAA office at [email protected].

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.
