The Trip:

Every year the AAA guides organize an exploratory heli-in ski camp, deep in the Canadian wilderness. With so many mountains far from any road, this style of trip allows access to seemingly endless locations in Western Canada. Mid-late April is the perfect time for this style of trip, with long days, a deep snowpack, often good avalanche conditions, and preserved powder in the high mountains! It is the highlight of our year and a fantastic way to cap off the ski season.

The Schedule:

What’s day to day life like on these camps? Usually we’ll get an early start to take advantage of good travel conditions in the morning and plan to be back at camp before the day gets too warm. We aim to find the best skiing possible, explore big glaciated terrain, and get to some summits. Afternoons are typically spent lounging in the sun, exchanging stories, enjoying drinks and appetizers, and reminiscing on the day’s adventure.

Come join us in 2025 and experience this genuine Canadian wilderness ski experience.

The Camp:

The ski week will be tent based with a large dome tent for cooking, drying gear and relaxing in, sleeping quarters will be shared (2 per tent) in large 4 person tents. We will be flying in and out of the camp location by helicopter. All the skiing will be done as day trips from the base camp with light packs. The Base camp elevation is at approximately 2000 m with amazing views in all directions! See the Rockies like never before.

This is an annual ski camp which seeks out a new location to offer a true ski adventure to the more remote areas in B.C. It is suitable for intermediate to strong back country skiers looking to explore off the beaten path and still have the comforts of heli-access camping.

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.
