The Program:
We invite you to join us on a fantastic 5-day hiking trip and explore the majestic Canadian Rockies, around Banff, Jasper & Yoho national parks.
Our time will be spent hiking some of The Rockies most beautiful trails, amazing views of mountains, lakes and glaciers. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy nature and learn about the local flora and fauna at the same time. During this week, we will take you on some of the “must-do” Banff, Jasper & Yoho hikes including the elusive Lake Ohara. You will have the opportunity to learn about local culture and geology/glaciology as well as viewing some of the iconic Rockies wildlife, bear, sheep, goat, marmot and many species of birds.
A detailed course package will be emailed to you once payment is received with a final logistics email 3 days prior to course commencement.
The Schedule:
Day 1: Banff National Park
Lake O'Hara Day Hike, join your certified ACMG guide and explore the elusive Lake Ohara area. Due to Parks Canada regulations it is extremely difficult to access this pristine alpine area. AAA has exclusive access to Ohara. You will visit Lake Ohara, Lake Oesa, Opabin Lake and the Opabin plateau.
Day 2: Cory Pass to Edith Pass Hiking Traverse
Cory Pass to Edith Pass hiking traverse. 15km and 900 m elevation gain and loss. As we ascend up and over Cory pass we will enjoy the amazing valley of the Gargoyles on the backside. Then, we will pass under the flanks of Mt Louis. Back to Banff for food and refreshments. A stark lunar style landscape with a drier climate than the continental divide hikes.
Day 3: Plain of Six Glaciers-Victoria Glacier
Plain of Six Glaciers at Lake Louise. We will have the opportunity to hike right up to the Victoria glacier, an amazing place surrounded by rock walls and glaciers descending from the high peaks. This is one of the worlds most photographed mountains. Spending the night at the Lake Louise Alpine Center or similar mountain hostel.
Day 4: Helen & Bow Lake-Rampart Creek Hostel
We will leave Lake Louise and head up the Icefields Parkway towards Jasper National Park, hiking up to Helen Lake on the Dolomite Pass circuit. The mighty Wapta icefields dominates the western skyline, the headwaters of the Bow river. That evening we will arrive at the Rampart Creek Hostel and experience the relaxed living of life in the Rockies.
Day 5: Jasper National Park - Mt. Wilcox
We will drive a short distance to the North, entering Jasper National Park. We will enjoy a must-do hike into Wilcox meadows Mt Wilcox ascent, with magnificent views of the world-renowned Columbia icefields. The drive back to Banff may include short stops at waterfowl lakes and Bow lake Lodge.

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.
