The Course:

 

Refresh you AST knowledge and skills with our Companion Rescue 1 day refresher course. You'll join the field day of our AST1 course. We'll review your existing knowledge and assess what changes have been made to techniques. This refresher course is all about making sure your awareness of how to assess and act in an avalanche scenario is in keeping with the current best practices, an essential tool for any serious backcountry skier or snowboarder.

 

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

 

The Day:

 

The field day will be held within the Lake Louise area. In some cases due to conditions the location may change, this will be discussed in class. Be prepared to meet at 8/9am and expect to finish around 3/4pm.

 

Private dates are available. If you have a group of friends organized, contact the AAA office to discuss details.

 

A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.

 

If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.

  • Cancellation Insurance is available through the Simpson Group
  • All of our guides have undergone training and evaluation by the ACMG, meeting the established criteria of a globally acknowledged professional organization.

GEAR LIST

  • Telemark or Alpine Touring skis with climbing skins OR Splitboard, Snow shoes will work for the field day
You will also need:
  • Warm, sturdy ski, snowshoe or snowboard boots
  • Transceiver, Shovel & probe
  • Layered, snow shedding clothing for snow, wind & cold
  • Day pack
  • Extra warm clothing (for standing around in the snow, more is better than not enough)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun/snow hat
  • Extra gloves/mitts
  • Lunch & snacks
  • Water bottle or thermos
