I invite you to join me on a fantastic 6-day hiking trip and explore the majestic Canadian Rockies, around Banff.
We will spend a great time hiking along with the most beautiful scenery, through mountains, lakes and glaciers. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy nature and learn about the local flora and fauna at the same time.
During this week, I will take you on some of the “must-do” Banff hikes. We will discover amazing spots, and we will not return the same way we come, discovering new places all the time.
We will travel to Banff National Park on the first day. Banff is about 120 km from Calgary. It’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Canada.
On the first day, we will enjoy an introductory hike to Grotto Canyon. During this week, I will also take you on the Cory Pass to Edith Pass hiking traverse and to the Plain of Six Glaciers at Lake Louise.
Also, we will hike up to Helen Lake on the Dolomite Pass Circuit. Besides, we will ascend Mt.Wilcox and enjoy spectacular views of the Columbia icefields. You can find the day-by-day itinerary below this text.
There are so many amazing places to discover and enjoy on this hike! This program is suitable for people of any age, provided you are in very good physical shape.
Itinerary (Subject to changes)
Arrive at Calgary International Airport. Travel to Banff National Park with a short introduction hike at Grotto Canyon. This is a hundred of years old canyon, with high walls and ancient hieroglyphs along the steep rock walls. Settle in and explore the town of Banff.
Cory Pass to Edith Pass hiking traverse. 15km and 900 m elevation gain and loss. As we ascend up and over Cory pass we will enjoy the amazing valley of the Gargoyles on the backside. Then, we will pass under the flanks of Mt Louis. Back to Banff for food and refreshments.
Plain of Six Glaciers at Lake Louise. We will have the opportunity to hike right up to the Victoria glacier, an amazing place surrounded by rock walls and glaciers descending from the high peaks. Spending the night at the Lake Louise Alpine Center.
We will leave Lake Louise and head up the Icefields Parkway towards Jasper National Park, hiking up to Helen Lake on the Dolomite Pass circuit. That evening we will arrive at the Rampart Creek Hostel and experience the relaxed living of life in the Rockies.
We will drive a short distance to the North, entering Jasper National Park. We will enjoy a must-do hike into Wilcox meadows Mt Wilcox ascent, with magnificent views of the world-renowned Columbia icefields. We will spend the evening back at the Rampart Creek Hostel.
Heading east down the David Thompson Highway, with time for short hikes and return to Calgary.
