A great opportunity to climb one of Alberta’s highest peaks during the 2017 summer solstice. Saturday will be a skills day which may include climbing a smaller peak. Skills will include: ice climbing, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, rappelling and ice screw anchors. Meeting time is 8:30 AM on the 18th at the ice fields campground in Jasper National Park. This course suits all levels of climber beginner to advanced and a great way to further your skills.

Enjoy Banff’s Outdoors With Our Alpine Climbing Tours

This trip is perfect for intermediate alpine climbers looking for some of the most classic alpine touring in the Canadian Rockies. Over three days starting from Lake O’Hara, we will make our way up to the birth place of Alpinism and Guiding in Canada, the National Historic Site of the Abbott Pass Hut. We will spend two nights at the Abbott Hut. Day two we will be up early to make an attempt on Mt Lefroy and on our third day, ascend the SE Ridge of Mt Victoria with the possibility of ascending a third 11,000’ peak along our decent back to Lake O’Hara, Mt Huber 3370m.

Join the Alpine Air guides for this mega classic alpine hiking traverse through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. We will begin at Moraine Lake where we will hike up and over Wenkchemna Pass to the Eagle Eyre; from there we will be hiking off trail up to Opabin Pass and descend the Opabin Glacier to Lake O’Hara. Our mountain home waits for us at The Elizabeth Parker Hut, a glass of wine and a sunset you will not forget! Early morning on our second day we will hike the All Souls Alpine route and use the Lake Oesa, Yukness ledges connector to approach Abbott Pass where we will spend our second night. Our decent to Lake Louise will be made via the Fuhrman Ledges to the Plain of six glaciers where we will make our way back to Lake Louise and the end of our journey.

This trip is a Scrambling/Hiking traverse which requires intermediate-advanced hiking fitness. There is off trail hiking, glacier travel and some exposure where a rope is required. Guest to Guide is 3:1
